Why Aggressive Supplementation?
Healthy eating does not eliminate the need for vitamin and mineral supplementation. It's nearly impossible to consume sufficient quantities of even nutrient-rich food to attain optimal levels of vitamins and minerals. Food storage, preparation, and cooking reduce nutrient levels further.
Research has also demonstrated that much of the population is born with genetic defects that may be corrected by appropriate supplementation. As we gain the technology to analyze genetic predispositions, we will be able to better target the areas for correction.
Years of intensive farming has depleted once-fertile farmland, so most available foods are deficient in essential nutrients. Ray & Terry recommend organic food sources for maximum nutrition and minimum contamination.
The ability of the intestinal tract to absorb nutrients varies among individuals and decreases with age. It is important to maintain a healthy GI tract to ensure you attain your body's optimal absorption.
In proper dosages, nutritional supplements can help support:
• Healthy immune function
• Cholesterol levels within a normal range
• Heart health
• Memory function
• Healthy bones and skin
• Overall wellbeing & good health
Many of our products contain nutrient amounts much higher than RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) percentages. People often ask why the percentages are so high, and if these amounts are safe. The RDA only expresses the amount needed to prevent a deficiency disease. For example, 65 mg of vitamin C will prevent scurvy, but many people feel that an optimal amount is more like 2000 mg or 3000% of the RDA amount. That's why Ray & Terry refer to these amounts as ONA (Optimal Nutritional Allowances) in Fantastic Voyage.

Omega-3 and Brain Health
The majority of science for the health benefits of fish and omega-3 consumption has focused on cardiovascular health, but the science for cognitive benefits is growing and almost as compelling as the heart health data. International research suggests that omega-3 fatty acids help protect brain health. People who ate more fish on a daily basis were found to have better cognitive test scores than those who ate less or no fish.

Eating Less and Living Longer
In animal testing, the only proven method to extend lifespan is to practice caloric restriction. Eating fewer calories also reduces age-related chronic diseases such as cancers, heart disease, and stroke in rodents. The lifestyle not only helps extend lifespan, but also makes for more graceful aging.

Did Daily Herring Help?
A half-joking remark from a record-breaking “super-centenarian” may carry little scientific significance ... but her example fits with the existing evidence on fish fats and brain health.

Convenience Era Threatens Mediterranean Diet
Eating habits have changed in places like Greece, where longevity has traditionally been linked to the diet. However, pediatricians are now seeing a marked rise in childhood obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure. The culprit? It all began with the invasion of fast food and ice cream.

Use It Or Lose It
Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) scientists have found another important clue to why nerve cells die in neurodegenerative diseases, based on studies of the developing brain. Neuroscientists at The University of Queensland have just published findings, which add more weight to the "use it or lose it" model for brain function.
