Product Highlights

Depletion of Phosphatidylcholine, an essential component of cell membranes that allows nutrients to pass through efficiently, is an important part of the aging process. Supplementing with phosphatidylcholine can help maintain flexible cell membranes, thereby supporting proper cell function, skin elasticity and liver health.

Supportive but not conclusive research shows that consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. One softgel of Mega EPA/DHA provides 700 mg of combined EPA/DHA omega-3 fatty acids.

Green Tea Extract reduces LDL oxidation and may also reduce fibrinogen, a protein in the blood that contributes to coagulation. It assists in maintaining a healthy BMI and protects the cells from free radicals.

Beta-sitosterol, typically derived from soy, is one of the most common forms of Plant Sterols. These compounds help maintain cholesterol levels within a normal range and exhibit anti-inflammatory properties.

It is important to include all subtypes of Vitamin E when choosing a supplement. Gamma-, delta-, alpha-, and beta- tocopherols are blended together in our formulation.

These are just some of the products we offer to support a healthy cardiovascular system. This month use promo code FEBHRT to save 5% on any product in the Heart Health category!

Pollution and Detoxification

Water Pollution
Prolonged exposure to waterborne contaminants has been linked to cancer and liver, kidney, and reproductive-tract problems. Polluted water may contain pathogenic microbial organisms, which can cause hepatitis, gastroenteritis (stomach "flu"), and cholera. Most tap water is not ideal for health.

  • Use a water filter for drinking and cooking uses.
  • Install a filter to remove chlorine and fluoride from your other household water.

Air Pollution
Polluted air has both direct and indirect toxic effects on the body. The EPA lists 188 hazardous air pollutants including formaldehyde and benzene. These toxins cause cancer and contribute to respiratory disease, birth defects, and other serious health problems.

  • Use an ionizing air filter at home and work if possible.

Food Pollution
Pesticides and herbicides are toxic chemicals used to grow mass market produce--just one more reason why organic foods are very highly recommended for optimum health. If you can't make a sudden switch to all organic foods, there are a few that should be at the top of your list. http://www.meatlessmonday.com

  • Eat organic whenever possible
  • Minimize intake of caffeine, sugar, processed foods, and animal proteins

Heavy Metal Pollution
Toxic heavy metals have been shown to increase free-radical activity, which is a big contributor to rapid aging. Heavy-metal toxicity can lead to abnormal immune function, learning disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases.

  • Limit the consumption of seafood to species that are lower in mercury
  • Choose wild fish over farm-raised for lower contaminant levels

Don't be fooled by the detox hype-- scientists warn that detoxification diets and products may be more myth than reality. Ray & Terry recommend strengthening your detoxification capacity naturally to protect your health from the onslaught of environmental pollutants and prevent future buildup of toxic waste: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7808348.stm

Strengthening Your Detoxification Capacity

  • Diet
    • Garlic, onions, lemon, rosemary and green tea can help strengthen the liver’s enzymatic functions and assist with elimination of heavy metals.
    •  Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts and bok choy have detoxification properties.
    • Cilantro is a natural heavy metal chelator.
  • Nutritional supplements include
    • N-Acetylcysteine (NAC), which boosts levels of glutathione, one of the liver’s most important Phase II detoxifiers.
    • Milk thistle (silymarin) and alpha lipoic acid give the liver a helping hand.
    • Adequate levels of vitamin C, many of the B vitamins, magnesium and selenium, which are critical for optimal detoxification enzyme function.
  • Drink adequate water and avoid constipation.
  • Vigorous aerobic exercise and saunas help remove toxins through sweat.

Fish May Prevent Memory Loss and Stroke

A recent study found that people who ate fish high in omega-3 fatty acids three times or more per week had a nearly 26 percent lower risk of having the silent brain lesions that can cause dementia and stroke compared to people who did not eat fish regularly. Eating just one serving of this type of fish per week led to a 13 percent lower risk.

Resveratrol Continues Promise of Life Extension

Scientists across the country have identified a substance in red wine called resveratrol that they believe might do more than just protect the heart, but could - in very high concentrations - significantly extend life by preventing a number of age related illnesses. Check out this 60 Minutes report on the power of red wine.

Omega-3s Boosted by Wine Consumption

This population study yielded the insight that people drinking moderate amounts of alcohol—one drink a day for women and two for men—had higher concentrations of omega 3 fatty acids in plasma and red blood cells independently of their fish intake.

The American Heart Association has issued new guidelines recommending that all patients with heart disease should be routinely screened for depression.

Risk of Heart Disease Associated with Vitamin D Deficit

The temperature might not be the only thing plummeting this winter. Many people also will experience a decrease in their vitamin D levels, which can play a role in heart disease, according to a new review article in Circulation.
