Why do we need antioxidants?

Antioxidants reduce oxidative damage in the cells. The damage is caused by toxins in our environment, food supply, etc. that clutter up our cells and cause them slow down, malfunction, become vulnerable to disease, and 'age.' Antioxidants help mop up the damaging particles, delaying the aging process at the cellular level. This process (The Free Radical Theory, first discussed in 1956) is one of the most promising explanations of how and why we age.

Okinawan centenarians, some of the longest-lived people in the world, have a markedly low plasma levels of oxidative stress, presenting a connection between oxidation and aging.

These are just a few of the highlights in our Antioxidant category

  • Green Tea: Helps burn belly fat for healthy BMI
  • Milk Thistle: Supports liver in detoxification process
  • Juice Complex: Maintain healthy cell activity and immunity
  • Ubiquinol: Improved form of CoQ10 (one of Ray’s top suggestions)

More Magnesium Associated with Less Diabetes

Recent research linked higher magnesium levels with lower glucose levels, while lower magnesium levels in the blood (and higher levels in the urine, indicating poor absorption) were linked with higher glucose levels.

Blueberries and Cereal Don’t Mix

Blueberries have the power to fight depression, lower cholesterol, combat cancer and protect your cells from the damage of aging. Consuming these nutrients with protein may take away some of their impact. Fresh or frozen berries are the best options because heat destroys their vital antioxidant compounds.

Vegetarian Diet Deficiencies

There are several key nutrients that are not plentiful in a vegetarian diet. New research indicates that vegetarians, and especially vegans, have an increased risk of heart disease because of a dietary tendency to inadequate intake of omega-3 and vitamin B12.
