| Magnesium is an essential mineral found naturally in nuts, grains, beans, dark green vegetables, fish and meat and is well-tolerated in supplement form. It plays an important part in many body systems including heart health, cellular integrity, digestion, and the maintenance of bones and muscles. By helping to relax the smooth muscles inside blood vessels and arteries, magnesium can improve blood flow to the heart.1,2 In turn, this helps reduce the occurrence of arterial spasm, which is a common cause of headache pain. Magnesium also supports blood pressure already within a normal range, and is necessary to form bone, protein and fatty acids.3,4 The potential benefits of magnesium supplementation include: - Enhanced energy levels4
- Alleviation of occasional headaches
- Relief of temporary constipation5
- Reduction of asthma symptoms
- Improved mood6
- Relief of PMS symptoms4
Magnesium glycinate is a chelated form of magnesium and offers enhanced absorption compared with other forms of supplemental magnesium.7 When minerals are chelated, it means the molecules are bound to molecules of another element, which stabilize the substance and assist its movement through the digestive system and its delivery to the cells themselves. The DRI (daily recommended intake) of magnesium for adult women is 320 mg and 420 mg for men, but we recommend 400 – 600 mg per day for most adults. Magnesium can interact with a number of medications including diuretics, some antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents. Large doses of magnesium may cause diarrhea, and caution is needed in cases of kidney dysfunction. Each vegetarian capsule contains 150mg elemental magnesium. Dosage: (2) - (4) vegetarian capsules daily, divided and taken with breakfast and with dinner or as directed by your physician. Ray & Terry’s Magnesium Glycinate contains 120 vegetarian capsules per bottle. | Supplement Facts | | Serving Size: 2 Veggie Capsules/ 60 Servings per Container |
