Excess activity of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase, can cause the body to create glucose from non-carbohydrate materials. This leads to elevation of blood sugar levels. Chlorogenic acid inhibits the activity of this enzyme and helps control sugar levels.2,3 It also helps minimize the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream by helping to control alpha-glucosidase enzyme activity.
