What exactly are RDA percentages?

Monday, May 9, 2011 10:56:52 PM America/New_York

Q. I'm confused at RDA percentages like 5,000% of B6, 1,650% of B12, 1,500% Vit. C, and so on. Do we absorb all of that or do the excesses just pass in our urine?

A. The large percentages of RDA amounts of vitamins merely reflect the fact that the RDA only expresses the amount needed to prevent a deficiency disease. 65 mg of vitamin C will prevent scurvy, but scurvy is relatively unheard of in developed nations today. Research indicates that an optimal amount is about 2000 mg or 3000% of the RDA amount. That's why we refer to these amounts as ONA (optimal nutritional allowances) in Fantastic Voyage.

When time is best to supplements?

Monday, May 9, 2011 10:55:52 PM America/New_York

Q. Should I take Ray & Terry's supplements with meals?

A. All of Ray & Terry's supplements are designed to work equally well when taken with or without food. If you have a sensitive stomach, you may wish to take yours with food.

Q. Does research suggest that I should spread out my doses of different antioxidants, or do they absorb fully and work independently enough for this not to be a consideration?

A. Ray Kurzweil writes, "I take mine throughout the day - some prior to breakfast, then most of them gradually through the day with green tea as I'm doing my work, even at meetings. Then I take some prior to dinner, and some in the evening."

What about combining supplement?

Monday, May 9, 2011 10:54:47 PM America/New_York

Q. Is there any combination of your products which would lead to over-dosing any supplement, e.g. Vitamin A or Beta-Carotene?

A. All of the Ray & Terry formulations have been specifically designed so that overdosaging of individual nutrients will not occur when multiple formulations are taken together.

Q. Can I take your supplements and also take others such as pycnogenol, acetyl carnitine, glucosamine, chondroitin, ginkgo, etc? In other words, can I take supplements that aren't included in your formula that I wish to take for various reasons?

A. All of our supplements are compatible with the other supplements you mention such as pycnogenol, acetyl carnitine, glucosamine, chondroitin, ginkgo, etc. Please consult your health care provider for more information before taking any supplement or medication.

Q. What is the active ingredient in Ray & Terry's Total Joint Care? What is the recommended dosage?

A. Total Joint Care contains cetyl myristoleate. Cetyl myristoleate works very well for arthritis, but often takes several months to work. We recommend 6 capsules a day of Ray & Terry's Total Joint Care until arthritic complaints lessen. Then, begin to taper to 4 or 2 capsules a day. Allow about 4 months time to see results.

Q. Do you see any problem if I crush tablets/caplets or open any capsules and take them with food or liquid?

A. There is no problem crushing pills or opening capsules. You might find it easier to take the EPA/DHA as a liquid such as cod liver oil, which is not available at our online store, but is available at health food stores or through Dr. Grossman's Frontier Medical Institute.

Q. How large are the tablets in the Total Care Daily Formula?

A. Our tablets and capsules are roughly the size of an extra strength Tylenol, that is, larger than a standard 5 gr. aspirin. If you have trouble with large tablets, you may want to break our tablets in half before swallowing.
